Kanu: Youth Group Urges FG to grant Kanu Freedom

A passionate appeal has gone to the Federal Government to consider granting the Leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra(IPOB) Mr Nnamdi Kanu total freedom for the sake of peace and tranquility, most especially in the South Eastern part of the Country.

The appeal was made in a statement signed by President and Chief Executive Officer of the Society for Youth and the Downtrodden(SOYD), Comrade Gabriel Ogwuche and made available to Business Africa Digest in Abuja.

The appeal is coming on the heels of the recent court judgement in favour of Nnamdi Kanu.
The statement noted that after a careful review of the combined judgements of the lower court and recent court of appeal dated 13th October, 2022 on the trial of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kalu, the court in their wisdom must have used their instrumentality of the law, and therefore have judiciously performed their complementary roles of fostering peace, national unity and security.

The Youth Group noted that the only common asset that we need is PEACE in every part of Nigeria, while advocating for fairness and justice that is completely devoid of illegality as this is the easiest way to achieve peace as a nation.

The statement further said that it will be difficult, if not impossible to use illegality to address illegality for whatsoever reasons, adding that if the appeal court`s decision on this matter is properly reviewed and diagnosed by the government of the federal republic of Nigeria, through the office of the attorney general of the federation with relevant post action plans, it will restore peace in the south east region and other part of the country, especially as 2023 general election draw nearer.

It therefore called on the federal government and Hon. Minister of justice to consider granting freedom to the detained leader of IPOB and restore peace in the south east region of Nigeria.
