INEC Removes Sokoto REC ahead of Guber polls
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended Dr. Nura Ali from her position as Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Sokoto State.
INEC Secretary Rose Orlaran-Anthony, on Monday sent a letter to the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner and Administrative Secretary informing them of the development.
According to the letter, Dr. Nura Ali is prohibited from entering the Commission’s Sokoto State office until further notice.
The suspension may not be unconnected with recent charges of irregularities in the state’s most recent election.
Hajiya Aliyu Kangiwa, the Administrative Secretary, has been instructed to assume complete control of INEC in Sokoto State.
