Tinubu Signs N70,000 New Minimum Wage Bill Into Law
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed the new minimum wage bill into law.
The President penned his signature to the bill at the State House in Abuja Monday, days after the National Assembly had passed the wage bill.
A National Assembly delegation led by the President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio and some members of the House of Representatives were around to witness the event.
The bill was passed expeditiously by both arms of the National Assembly last week.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio led other members of the National Assembly leadership joined the FEC for the ceremony.
Business Africa Digest reports that this is the first time since the coming of the present democratic dispensation that the council presided over by the president is admitting the leadership of the legislature into the Council Chamber during FEC meeting.
Their involvement in the council meeting comes amid tension over the planned protest by some Nigerians against economic hardship in the country.
