DataPro, a leading credit rating agency is launching a major compliance push to prevent financial institutions from the increasing threat of illegal weapons financing.
The Rating agency announced a high-level two-day compliance training designed to fortify banks, fintechs, and Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions (DNFBPs) with the skills and robust defences required to crack down on proliferation financing and navigate complex Targeted Financial Sanctions.
The company said the upcoming October 2026 Open-House Training on Countering Proliferation Financing is holding at a critical time when international regulatory demands are hitting new heights with increasing stringent oversight.
According to the firm, the virtual masterclass is expected to run on Tuesday, October 27, and Wednesday, October 28, 2026, and will be intensive, capacity-building program that will stream live via Zoom from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. daily, delivering actionable strategies to help compliance officers spot red flags and safeguard their institutions against severe regulatory penalties.
The event is coming amidst the tightening grip of global regulation on financial institutions and DNFBPs over compliance with international standards on countering proliferation financing, the training will position stakeholders to effectively address deficiencies identified in recent mutual evaluation reports by the Inter-Governmental Action Group Against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA).
DataPro noted that the initiative will equip compliance professionals with the practical tools and operational blueprints needed to ace tough regulatory audits, while also zeroing in on high-stakes mandates like mandatory risk assessments, strict customer due diligence, and statutory reporting protocols.
Additionally, the training targets critical vulnerabilities across financial institutions and DDNFBPs, and by upgrading staff and boardroom capabilities, it seeks to build airtight compliance frameworks that can withstand intense regulatory scrutiny.
The training hopes to tackle modern financial threats head-on and participants will master advanced customer due diligence to block proliferation financing while sharpening their day-to-day skills in risk management, transaction monitoring, and red-flag reporting.
Unveiling the intensive curriculum, the Agency said it is divided into five core modules designed to dismantle illegal financing networks with participants expected to master the conceptual framework of Countering Proliferation Financing (CPF), evaluate internal policies and procedures, and conduct rigorous risk assessments.
The final segments dive deep into advanced customer due diligence (CDD), sharp transaction monitoring, and navigating the complex regulatory reporting framework, even as there is confirmation that graduates will walk away with battle-tested due diligence tools and risk assessment protocols.
These practical skill sets are engineered to fortify institutional compliance frameworks and directly align daily operations with global Financial Action Task Force (FATF) standards and investment for the program is pegged at N100,000 per participant (excluding VAT).
However, to encourage widespread corporate adoption, DataPro is offering discounted tier rates for group registrations and given the limited seats available, the organizers urge institutions to finalize their nominations immediately to secure a spot before registration closure.
