The first batch of Christian pilgrims from Lagos State has returned safely after a successful pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan.

The pilgrims, who departed the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos arrived back Nigeria on the new year day

At the welcome ceremony, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, expressed his joy about the success of the pilgrimage, noting that the journey began and ended on a positive note.

He expressed hope that other states would follow this example of Lagos pilgrims.

The Special Adviser on Christian Religious Matters, Very Revd Adebukola Adeleke, along with Bishop Akinpelu Johnson, Chairman of the Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, also expressed gratitude to God for the safe travels.

Mrs. Yetunde Gbafe, the Board Secretary, thanked God for the smooth operation of the pilgrimage and acknowledged the improvements at the Jordan-Israel border.

She expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, ground handlers, and the intervention of the Nigerian Embassy, adding that the second batch of Lagos pilgrims will be departing soon.

The newly inducted Jerusalem Pilgrims (JPs) expressed their satisfaction with the spiritually uplifting experience and the high-quality welfare provided by the Lagos State Government. They encouraged others who wish to undertake this spiritual journey to do so as the holy lands are currently peaceful.
