Hon owoicho Oyih and made available to Business Africa Digest in Abuja, said that the Benue South Senatorial District Wealth and Empowerment Initiative (BSSDWEI), is a program dedicated to empowering youths, women, and small-scale entrepreneurs.
He said it was part Hon. David Olofu’s Initiative to Strengthen Small and Medium Enterprises in Benue State’s Zone C
“Hon. David Olofu is spearheading a transformative initiative to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the nine local government areas in Benue State’s Zone C”, adding that the initiative is designed to address the region’s high unemployment rate and curb crime by fostering economic growth and job creation.

“Recognizing the vital role of SMEs in economic development, Hon. Olofu is committed to providing the necessary support, resources, and training to help entrepreneurs succeed”, he said.
By promoting self-reliance and financial stability, the program aims to create sustainable job opportunities and reduce economic hardship.
He noted that beyond economic empowerment, this initiative is also a strategic effort to enhance security in Zone C. By tackling the root causes of crime—such as unemployment and lack of opportunities—it seeks to foster a safer and more prosperous community.
“Olofu strongly believes that when individuals have access to meaningful employment and steady income, the likelihood of criminal activity would definitely decrease”.
To achieve these objectives, the initiative will introduce
Entrepreneurship Training & Workshops – Equipping participants with essential business skills, and exposing them to Micro-financing Opportunities – Providing access to funding for startups and existing businesses.
The will also experience Mentorship & Business Support – Connecting aspiring entrepreneurs with experienced mentors and industry experts.
By collaborating with key stakeholders, including business leaders and community organizations, Hon. Olofu’s initiative will build a strong support system for SMEs in the Zone.
This initiative represents a bold step toward fostering economic independence, reducing unemployment, and ensuring a more secure future for residents of Benue South Senatorial District. Through entrepreneurship and sustainable business development, Hon. David Olofu is committed to transforming the economic landscape of Zone C and beyond.
