The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called for the immediate reversal of the recent petrol price hike by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

In a statement on Wednesday, by NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, the union expressed concern over the impact of the increase on the already dwindling purchasing power of Nigerians.

NLC letter on the Petrol Price Hike

NLC criticized the latest increase in the price of Petrol, stating that previous increments have already strained the economy and worsened the standard of living for many citizens.

He urged the government to present a clear and inclusive plan for economic growth and national development.

Ajaero warned that “The latest increase in fuel prices will only deepen poverty and lead to more job losses across the country”.
